What FTUB does for Transnational Migrant Laborer?
We, FTUB believe that transnational migration is one of the non-traditional security aspects (NTSA), which is threatening international peace and security to this modern world. Both documented and undocumented migrants laborers from Burma have poured to less competitive labor market of Thailand, India, China and Bangladesh. Moreover, it goes to South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, West Europe and United State of America as well.
Some root-causes of labor migration from Burma are the SPDC regime's mismanagements on policies of politic, macroeconomic, social and human resource development and anti-poverty. Burma is the one of the highest migrant workers-exporting countries in S.E Asia. An interesting on Burma' interregional and transnational migration is, Forced Labor which is systematically used by military personnel of military junta of Burma.
To be able to help this vulnerable Burma's migrant workers, FTUB has established a task-force namely the Migrant Workers Affairs. The FTUB' Migrant Labor Affairs has been combating as follow agendas and issues:
Human Resource Development
- Educating Trade Unions Rights/ Migrant Workers Right and Human Rights
- Sharing some information of basic rule and regulation of Thailand to migrants
- Implementing capacity building and educational activities for migrant workers
- Giving labor rights and human rights awareness among the migrant labor community
- Advocating capacity building and human empowerment among migrant laborers.
